Junior Mine Technician Open Pit Surveyor

The Junior Mine Technician will report to the Senior Mine Technician.
Working in the Mine Engineering department, the Junior Mine Technician will hold a variety of
responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Performing daily as-built surveys of mining activity
- Provide lay-out surveys for drill patterns and other mine designs to support mine operations
- Maintaining digital survey files in the mine’s computer systems
- Co-ordination of engineering and mine operations personnel to ensure efficient operations
- Other survey-related tasks as assigned
The position is primarily a field role with some daily computer time. Regular tasks will require
moderate to high levels of physical exertion, and the ability to traverse unstable and uneven terrain.
Applicants must be willing to work outside for extended periods in all seasons, including harsh winter
conditions. Strong problem solving and planning skills will be required to prioritize and schedule a
variety of daily tasks independently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERENCES
- Requirements of the position:
- A technical diploma in a mining or surveying related field is desired, but all applicants with relevant surveying experience will be considered.
- Strong computer skills, especially with CAD software is a strong asset.
- Experience in an active mining environment is an asset.
- A driver’s license and good driving skills are required.
- The ability to speak and write English is required.
The Mount Polley mine is located approx one hour drive from Williams Lake. All employees are
expected to secure accommodation within the local area. Daily transportation to/from the
mine site is available.
