Mine Superintendent (Management & Executives)

Our client is seeking a Mine Superintendent is responsible to organize and direct the activities in the mine in order to safely produce the planned tonnage and cost required to deliver safety, cost effective and efficient underground mining operations, that meet our production targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Safety Management Systems, providing the leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to Environmental, Sustainability and Human Resources policies and procedures that exceed industry standards and any applicable legislation.
  • Establish strategic plans at the senior management level.
  • Develop and achieve overall safety, production and cost targets.
  • Work with cross functional teams to set direction and determine mid to long term mine plans and profitable mining strategies.
  • Develop and implement mining succession plans for continuous supply of critical roles which ensure employees learn new skills and reach full potential.
  • Promote the principle of ownership, accountability and mutual respect to the workforce and supervision.
  • Develop and manage to realistic budgets 

Requirements:

  • University degree or post-secondary diploma in a technical discipline
  • Qualifications and certification in Common Core and Safety
  • 10-15 years of underground mining experience 5+ years at a supervisory level
  • Exemplary knowledge of underground mining methods, blasting, ventilation and mine services
  • Strong understanding of Mining Act and legislation
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate.
  • Proficient computer literacy
