Our client is seeking a Senior Engineer/Hydrometallurgist for their Sudbury location.

Responsibilities:

 The primary functions of the Senior Engineer/Metallurgist are:

  • Write project proposals and market client business
  • Manage projects by meeting turnaround (schedule), quality and safety standards
  • Supervise and mentor department personnel
  • Provide and develop specialized knowledge and expertise for clients
  • Project responsibilities range from laboratory test work to operations support
  • Work closely with the Extractive Metallurgy Manager to plan and implement a wide variety of metallurgical test work projects
  • Work on projects which can commonly contain a process design, process modeling and laboratory testing component.
  • The Senior Engineer/Metallurgist will be responsible in each project for the financial aspects, cost controls and assessment of competitiveness.
  •  Participate in operations plant support which includes a focus on improving safety, process troubleshooting/optimization and metallurgical plant improvement.
  • In this role you are a consultant to Operations project engineers/superintendents and assist in developing schedules and execution of continuous improvement projects.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Degree in metallurgical, chemical engineering or related degree and/or related experience
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in hydrometallurgical engineering or hydrometallurgical operations in base or precious metals industry
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic team
  • Excellent business skills and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite or equivalent products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail
