Senior Hydrogeologist – Mining 

I am working on behalf of a Global Consultancy sourcing for a Senior Hydrogeologist. The position will be based in Lima Peru but will cover all of South America. The selected candidate will be the Senior technical leader within a group of water resource specialists.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Part of a multidisciplinary group providing consulting services, primarily to mining clients around South America.
- Mentorship, training and development of staff.
- Technical leader for physical hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources areas in Peru.
- Performing project- related roles related to your experience. These roles will include project management, technical leadership and review.
- Typically, you would be involved in projects related to mine site infrastructure, and environmental impact studies for mining projects (tailings facilities, heap leach facilities, access roads, waste dumps, open pit dewatering, water supply, etc.)
- Business development in the water resources area. This would include developing opportunities with potential new clients, and also cross-marketing water resources services to existing clients. It is also possible that we would be looking to develop water resources services for sectors outside of mining.
- The above task will require travel to project sites remote from Lima, as necessary to meet project requirements.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 15 years of experience post-Bachelor degree in technical work related to physical hydrogeology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining-related activities.
- Spanish and English language highly desirable
- Knowledgeable in all areas of collection of field data for hydrogeological analyses.
- Strong skills in developing conceptual hydrogeological models.
- Understanding of numerical modelling for hydrogeology, and related software tools such as MODFLOW and FEFLOW.
- Operational and/or project management experience is a definite asset.
- Experience in developing models for open pit and underground dewatering programs.
- Experience in providing hydrogeological study support for preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments.
- Working knowledge of water management issues for mining projects and operations.

Compensation

The position is a International expat residency role and will include a housing and living allowance as well as flights home with a highly competitive negotiable salary on offer.
