Leap29 are working closely with a small to medium sized investment organization which specialize in the Hydrocarbons and Minerals sectors primarily across Egypt and Yemen but more recently in Sudan. Having gained government approval for the mine setup they will begin production around September.
Working on a new green fields small scale open cut mining operation in Sudan and reporting to the Project Manager, they require a Senior Mining Engineer to provide leadership to the mining team whilst developing detailed mine plans and input to the LOM Management.
Key Performance Areas:
Key performance areas include the project management aspects of mining development and safe open-cut design and planning:
• Safe open-cut design, planning and optimisation
• Provide input to the reserve calculations
• Drill and Blast optimisation
• Feasibility studies
• Mine Services including backfill
• Overall Mine Planning and Optimisation
• Mine Development
• Systems development
• Long and short term scheduling
• Mine Economics including budgets and forecasts
• Completing all tasks and achieving targets and goals within the set and agreed limits
• Cooperation and communication with other staff, contributing to the overall business plans
• Setting up and managing quality and OHS procedures
• General dedicated approach to various tasks that may be assigned to you
Personal Qualities:
Ability to be a team player, to set up a mining operation from scratch, while training your team members in the requirements of the tasks:
• Ability to work in different alternate cultures, particularly of Arabic origin
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literate
• Ability to take full ownership of the job and to work independently, in remote areas
• Ability to write clear and concise reports
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with multi-disciplinary technical teams
• Proven people management – advantage if in a similar environment
• Ability to work at all levels of the organisation including senior management, external stakeholders and consultants where required
• A reputation among industry peers for technical excellence, with strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work in remote areas is essential
To be applicable for this role you will have a degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent and a license for blasting operations. You will have around 10 years’ experience. The position will be FIFO and ideally you will need to be available in the next month to start.
