My Client is seeking an experienced Head of Exploration to manage the company’s exploration programs within West Africa. With a growing portfolio of assets and two active exploration programs underway, the candidate will be managing the exploration infrastructure, designing and implementing exploration programs, promoting the growth of the company, and adding value to investment opportunities. The Client has strong operational capability and a RAB drilling rig.
The position will utilise the candidate’s extensive experience in remote locations (preferably West Africa), in addition to the candidate’s proven leadership expertise.
Reporting to the CEO, and in close cooperation with the Country Manager and field geologists the candidate will manage all aspects of the company’s exploration activities. You will build an effective exploration team, design and implement exploration programs and add value to growth opportunities by assisting in the identification and acquisition of high quality exploration projects. The candidate’s success will be defined by his/her capacity to manage both the technical and commercial elements of this challenging role.
To secure this role, the candidate will have a Tertiary Qualification in Geology with experience in senior exploration positions and a thorough knowledge of the West African Birimian. The candidate will have gained exposure to a variety of geological settings with particular exposure to gold exploration in weathered environments. The candidate’s ability to manage projects across multiple sites will be crucial to his/her success, and a willingness to travel to remote locations will be expected. Proven leadership skills, exceptional communication skills and a passion for early-stage exploration are essential. Fluent English and conversational French are the minimum language requirements.
The position is based in Bamako and is offered as a full-time residential position or on an ex-pat basis.
