Human Resource Director (Management & Executives)

Our client is a rapidly expanding junior Mining firm based in Vancouver and has an immediate need for a full-time Human Resource Director to lead its corporate culture and change management initiatives.  The HR Director will be a member of the leadership team and will be responsible for the Corporations Human Resource strategy and activity as it expands its mining operations in Canada.

Job Summary:

The Human Resource Director will be responsible for delivering HR strategy and services that address the site/corporations changing needs and are aligned with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization.  This key leadership role is responsible for leading the organizations human resources, employee relations activities and providing advice and counsel to the management team.  The HR Director will develop and administer HR policies which promote the fair and equitable treatment of employees throughout the Company.  These policies may cover one or more areas of HR including:  employee relations, recruitment and placement, orientation and training, performance appraisals, wage and salary administration, benefits and work/life balance, and/or domestic/international assignments.

HR Director Focused Duties:

  • Design and deliver HR strategy throughout the organization
  • Manage the company’s recruitment, placement, and training programs, and assures compliance with Employment Equity regulations
  • Manage the organizations compensation programs, including performance appraisals, merit review, and incentive pay
  • Responsible for Company’s Community Relations and First Nations outreach programs
  • Ensures the company’s HR policies and procedures are in accordance applicable governmental laws and regulations
  • Responsible for administration of company benefit programs and services
  • Train and educate supervisors and employees in areas related to human resources
  • Introduces various employee activities designed to promote and maintain a high-level of employee morale that are consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization
  • Develops and submits annual HR operating budget for approval and monitors expenditures in accordance with approved plan
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of all aspects of the HR infrastructure of the company
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. degree in Human Resources, Psychology, (or related degree), MSc preferred
  • Minimum 10 years human resources experience in mining or related industry with a minimum 5 years field experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated skill in handling a wide variety of sensitive situations in dealing will all levels of employees and managers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential assignments
  • Must posses an in-depth knowledge and understanding of applicable Federal and Provincial laws and regulations
  • Ability to travel 25% to 50% of the time with extended field trips
  • Highly motivated, self starting individual possessing the willingness to accept a challenge and successfully accomplish a set of goals

Compensation: Competitive – Market Priced DOE
