We are looking for An Analyst-Accountant (Site Cost Analyst) to join our Wolverine Mine, near Tumbler Ridge, in North East BC.

Summary:

The Site Cost Analyst is to ensure financial integrity through day to day management of the accounting function through monitoring and ensuring compliance with internal controls. The Site Cost Analyst will be responsible for the provision of detailed cost analysis and will be able to quantify the variances against budgets and outlooks.  Cost reviews are to be scheduled regularly with site departments to quantify explanations and to gain an understanding of the impacts of the variances against budget and forecasts.   The Site Cost Analyst will assist site departments in the preparation of economic valuations (NPV calculations) of capital and large operational projects and identify cost savings and potential opportunities for business process improvements across the site.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business discipline  Some college/university and/or professional development courses in the administration preferred.
  • Professional accounting designation preferred
  • Mining experience or heavy industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in using a large integrated ERP system e.g. Ellipse, SAP, JDE.
  • Analytical skills to understand issues and determine and implement solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Proven time management skills and ability to deliver on time.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy, consistency, confidentiality and a commitment to continuous improvement in the work environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for detailed analysis of monthly cost information to provide detail on variances against budget and forecasts
  • Responsible for the preparation of cost reports for all departments on site and to provide assistance in interpreting those reports for the site departments
  • Preparation of month end journals for timely completion of month end reporting time lines.
  • Ensure that the capital expenditure approval and monitoring process is correctly followed and monitored.  
  • Reconciliation and reporting of all Capital expenditures and assist in the preparation of AFE’s (Authority for Expenditure) forms.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset register including additions, disposals and reconciliation of Work in Progress (WIP) ledger monthly.
  • Participate in business improvement initiatives
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Other special projects as required

Compensation

Salary starting at $72,000, plus housing allowance, benefits and matched RRSP’s.
