One of Africa’s most prestigious mining companies requires a new Chief Metallurgist. The position will be based in North Africa.
The Role: Chief Metallurgist
· Contribute to the achievement of “Zero Harm” HSE Policy
· Provide support metallurgy services
· Manage the analysis and reporting of plant and laboratory data, including setting KPIs.
· Manage planning and execution of plant and laboratory trials and test work.
· Provide technical assistance and support to production teams and metallurgists as required.
· Act as a mentor for local national staff.
· Supervise metallurgical test programs.
· Process selection and design.
· Working with sub-contractors involved in concentrator design process.
· Revision and acceptance of the concentrator design from the study contractor.
· Acquiring required permits and State approvals for the concentrator design
· Evaluate, select and organise the purchasing of plant equipment.
· Specify process services, utilities and infrastructure.
· Liaise with engineering, procurement, contracts and construction personnel for construction & commissioning of the process plant.
· Assistance with activities associated with pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover during the Defects Liability Period for the concentrator.
· Supervision of owner’s team reports, including performance appraisal and personal development planning.
· Contribute to performance appraisal and personnel development planning as required and as appropriate.

· 10+ years’ metallurgical experience
· Technical degree in Metallurgy
