A mining company in the Middle East currently requires a Chief Mine Planning Engineer to work on a well-established underground gold mine. Candidates will have a degree in Mining Engineering and a minimum of 10 years relevant underground experience.

The ideal candidate will be a registered professional and be conversant with mine planning software such as Surpac, Gemcom, Datamine, Mineshed etc. Candidates must have experience in block modelling and ore reserve calculations; previous experience working on hydrothermal gold deposits would also be beneficial.

The successful candidate will plan and design the mine layout and equipment selection to ensure ore extraction rates are maintained and the mine is designed safely, and in addition, will supervise the drafting of maps and plans, both manually and via AutoCAD or Surpac.

Duties will also include:

  • Supervising the activities of assigned Mine Engineering personnel;
  •  Performing cost analysis for all mining activities;
  •  Analysing and compiling monthly and yearly statistical production reports for management review and
  • Analysing production processes i.e. blasting techniques, cycle times, manpower allotments, haulage rates, loading capacities etc to ensure optimum levels of activities.

This position is offered on a single basis with a good salary package and bonuses.
