Our client in the Middle East requires a Chief Mining Engineer for their underground gold mine.
The overall purpose of the job will be to; conduct analysis to ascertain location of minerals; supervise the drafting of maps and plans both manually and via Surpac and AutoCAD and; supervise and co-ordinate the surveying and core sampling of the mine.
The Chief Mining Engineer’s responsibilities will include:
- Supervising the activities of assigned Mine Engineering personnel;
- Performing supervisory functions and exercising financial authority at the Section Head level as established by Management;
- Designing and scheduling underground development to ensure current and future ore production requirements;
- Scheduling ore extraction based on production requirements;
- Analysing stope feasibility and cost analysis to ascertain economical extraction of ore;
- Performing cost analysis for all mining activities;
- Evaluating, designing and monitoring underground ventilation networks;
- Determining ground support requirements and monitoring implementation;
- Determining optimum location and routing of underground services i.e. air, water and power;
- Analysing underground equipment requirements for current and future mining activities;
- Analysing production processes i.e. blasting techniques, cycle times, manpower allotments, haulage rates, loading capacities etc;
- Compiling mine production statistics on a daily basis;
- Producing a daily, monthly and yearly mine production report for management’s review and appropriate action and;
- Safety and Environment (HSE) programs, policies and procedures.
Requirements for the role will include a Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering along with mine planning, engineering and project experience.
Candidates must be competent in using Surpac, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office and have experience of underground ventilation systems.
The ability to work with a team of professional and technical individuals in a changing, creative and dynamic environment is critical.
