Coeur Mining, Inc. is the largest U.S.-based primary silver producer and a growing gold producer. The Company has four precious metals mines in the Americas employing nearly 2000 people. Coeur is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to provide leadership, direction and overall construction project management to the capital projects team. The Construction Manager will focus initially as the construction manager for dam construction activities at our San Bartolome Mine near Potosi, Bolivia and will manage all contractors, contractor performance, cost, safety environment and quality issues on the project. The position will require extensive travel to Bolivia on a rotational basis. As such, the incumbent must be close to a major airport to travel to project sites as required. Responsibilities

  • Execute field construction activities in accordance with the contract, project documents, cost estimates, schedules, safety standards, established project control systems, and quality standards in order to meet project deadlines;
  • Establish and implement procedures and systems to ensure project construction work complies with engineering drawings, design specifications, established delivery schedules, company standards and statutory regulations;
  • Participate in developing Project Execution Plan including Work Breakdown Structure, definition of staffing requirements, roles and responsibilities, procurement strategy, work plans and budgets, and job specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Review contractor construction plans, equipment selection, work scopes, schedules and manpower loading, construction work plans and field installation work packages;
  • Monitor and report on contractors’ plans, schedules and performance in order to ensure work is being delivered according to plan and within budget;
  • Review / coordinate contractor QC programs, Inspection and Test Plans;
  • Monitor and coordinate contractor work completion schedules;
  • Monitor contractor safety and quality compliances;
  • Accurately record all work completing daily, weekly and monthly construction reports;
  • Ensure all information is captured on the projects software and is timely and accurate;
  • Ensure all materials conform to the specifications and quality standards;
  • Within the Company’s established project management environment, develop and implement construction standards and construction planning, control and change management processes to ensure construction work complies with engineering drawings, design specifications, company standards and statutory regulations, to ensure the project is delivered according to plans and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner;
  • Manage the change control process, verify construction progress and scope changes, communicate changes to Project Controls Manager;
  • Attend contractor safety meetings and tool box talks;
  • Identify areas where corrective action is required, identify deficiencies and coordinate rework to ensure schedule, specifications, procedures, company objectives and construction management best practices are adhered to; Develop and implement plans for project handoff to mine operations;
  • Implement work improvement strategies;
  • Work with contractors to avoid and mitigate all significant risks and assist with contingency plan for other risks which cannot be effectively mitigated

    Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 10-15 years’ experience in project/construction management required
  • Candidates from mining, heavy industrial and civil engineering preferred
  • Degree in construction management / engineering or related field preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude with knowledge of common construction and jobsite practices;
  • Experience in project estimating,planning, scheduling, and control;
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Primavera (or similar);
  • Knowledge reading and interpreting shop/engineering drawings;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Self-disciplined and motivated;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to work with general contractors and consultants;
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Ability to handle complex projects independently

Compensation

The incumbent must be prepared to enter into a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with Coeur Mining Inc. for an initial contractual period of nine (9) months.

Compensation will be based on an hourly rate at 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required.

Reasonable expenses related to travel; meals and accommodations will be reimbursed.
