Controls Engineer 

Our Client has over one hundred years of mining experience and is committed to building a diverse workforce. They are currently seeking a Controls Engineer who will be responsible for general controls design and analysis for the operation.

The successful candidate will support maintenance, production and wellfield departments to resolve controls, communication issues, complete controls design for maintenance and capital projects, coordinate interfaces between IT and PCS, analyze proposed controls change according to a management of change process, and is able to work within a team setting.

Responsibilities 

• Review and/or develop controls and instrumentation engineering, drawings and documents in terms of feasibility, standards, codes, and the clients quality specifications.
• Supervise and direct the work of the Instrumentation Specialist for adherence to technical standards and use of sound engineering principles.
• Maintain and update the clients site design specifications and core documents for instrumentation and controls systems.
• Coordinates with the drafting supervision and technical Engineers to maintain and modify in conjunction with the clients management of change procedures.
• Participate in aspects of the clients project including, but not limited to, document review, pre-commissioning, commissioning, operations readiness, and start-up.
• Manage capital projects of a scope in line with this position’s area of technical expertise and/or projects of a defined level of complexity or scope.
• Participates and leads HAZOP, P&ID, and controls infrastructure design reviews.
• Provides technical support for site PCS system and all associated networks.
• Provides technical support for site auxiliary systems including fire alarm system, access control, and CCTV.
• Evaluate new and existing technologies for their applicability to the clients measurement and control needs.
• Ensure that the client is at all times in compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental regulatory and internal laws and policies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of Engineering experience in heavy industrial or mining experience is preferred (soft rock ideally), but not required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a supervisor or lead position.
• P.Eng or eligible to register through APEGS.
• Demonstrates the ability to analyze and resolve work issues that arise.
• Able to provide direction and mentorship to direct report and other discipline-related personnel.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, especially with regards to area of practice.
• Must be authorized to legally work in Canada
• Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
