Globe 24-7 have been engaged to source a bilingual French/English Country Manager for a residential role in West Africa and are now accepting applications for this position.

The Company

Roxgold Inc. is a TSX-listed junior gold company who are progressing the development of the Yaramoko gold project in Burkina Faso. The operation will be a high-grade underground project with a 7-year Life of Mine that will produce on average 100,000 oz of gold per annum.

They now seek to appoint an experienced Country Manager to manage the company’s government relations, community & social responsibility, environmental, legal and logistics needs within Burkina Faso.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, the Country Manager shall conduct the following:

  • Develop and implement a short and long-term government relations strategy in line with the project development schedule
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant government departments of Burkina Faso, including the Mines Department, Environmental Permitting authorities, Unions and others
  • Represent the company in high-level meetings with local community, government and external stakeholders in regards to the company’s CSR programs
  • Oversee the company’s logistical needs ensuring the safe and secure movement of supplies
  • Manage Roxgold’s Ouagadougou office to ensure that the Administration, HR and Finance functions are effectively conducted in accordance with Roxgold’s requirements and the laws of Burkina Faso
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to, and operate within safety, environmental and Social Responsibility practices

The Requirements

As the successful candidate, it is essential that you possess the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commercial/Law/Geology/Engineering or Business degree
  • 20+ years experience including minimum 5 years management experience in a similar role within West Africa
  • Bilingual French/English essential
  • Proven track record of working with government relations, corporate social responsibility and complete understanding of legislation as it relates to mining
  • High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation
  • High level of written and spoken communication skills
  • Must be familiar with MS Office software

Compensation

This position will play an integral part in the development of Africa’s newest underground operation and as such will be remunerated commensurate with the seniority of the position.
