Coeur Mining, Inc., one of the world’s leading silver companies and a significant gold producer, is seeking a Director, Exploration in Mexico.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Exploration, this position will be based out of the Chihuahua, Mexico office. The Director, Exploration for Mexico will assist in identifying, evaluating, and generating mineral exploration opportunities that offer the potential to provide profitable growth for the Coeur Mining and increased value for its shareholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management, supervision and direction of all exploration activities in Mexico including: current programs, design and execution of future programs; Reviewing a proportion of project submittals with recommendations to the executive team; Reviewing budgets and growth strategies; Preparing advanced modeling and conceptual targeting
  • Ensures ongoing exploration programs meet the company’s objectives and standards; monitors weekly and monthly reports from active projects; prepares monthly corporate geology report; reviews drill program plans and approves amendments; reviews regional budgets and monitors ongoing expenditures; provides geological support to the in-country exploration groups
  • Analysis of geological data, measuring exploration operational performance against targets, and ability to provide high level technical exploration and geological expertise to determine solutions to technical and other operational difficulties and to keep the exploration processes on track
  • Interpret and analyze the results of drilling and other geological and geotechnical information to develop geologic models and mineralization theories, delineate current and future exploration targets, and evaluations of mining reserves/resources in the areas under exploration. Provide expertise into mining feasibility investigations and the development of recommendations to operational management on short and long term mining strategy, both for open-pit and underground operations.
  • Identify all legal and regulatory requirements applicable to exploration activities in Mexico and ensure compliance. Manage compliance with operational procedures and standards.
  • Administer all applications and licenses for tenements, evaluate new tenement opportunities, liaises with Mexican government agencies and landowners as well as the Corporate Land Manger; Assesses property submittals; may provide geologic expertise/insight to Business Development
  • Liaises with consultants and contractors regarding the geological aspects of work programs and exploration techniques
  • Generates new projects and helps select new targets on existing projects in Mexico; assists in the development of strategic planning and generative efforts in new regions of Mexico

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology
  • Advanced degree in mineral economics, business, finance or geology
  • 10+ years global exploration experience including brownfields and greenfields
  • In-depth knowledge of deposit models and styles of mineral occurrences relevant to the company’s business and an in-depth knowledge of exploration techniques, in particular geophysics and geochemistry
  • Significant technical aptitude on large project experience a must
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Significant domestic and international travel required
  • Focused and dedicated with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage difficult situations. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
