The Position
The Field Geologist will be based at our Clark facility located just east of Reno and will report to the Director of Exploration. The primary responsibilities are to supervise the Company’s field exploration campaigns and assist in maintaining the systems that support identification and growth of ore reserves. Field exploration for diatomite, clay, perlite and other minerals in the US and international locations will be a primary focus of the Field Geologist position.
Additional responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Conduct routine safety inspections in work areas to insure safe operation in all activities;
- Supervise air rotary and core drilling and ensure representative sampling systems;
- Organizing sample submittals for lab work and maintain accurate database records;
- Logging and characterizing drill samples for rock types, mineralogy, stratigraphy and structure, etc.;
- Field sampling and mapping and providing written summaries of activities, progress and results;
- Assist in determining appropriate locations for drilling targets and surveying drill collar locations;
- Assisting in lands management, staking claims, exploration permit application and working with lease holders as needed;
- Experience with resource modeling using mine planning software (Surpac) is a plus;
- Assisting the mine group with geological and technical support as directed
Candidate Requirement
The ideal candidate will possess a BSc degree in Earth Science, Geology or Geological Engineering and 3 - 5 years of experience as a Field Geologist working in volcanic and sedimentary terrains. An MSc degree with 1-2 years field experience is preferred. We’re looking for a geologist who is technically adept, personally resourceful and can demonstrate a solid record of accomplishment in field geology. The right candidate will be accustomed to working with a high degree of autonomy and be comfortable making sound decisions that will support the growth of the Company’s mine reserves in both near mine and Greenfield environments. This position will require domestic and some international travel.
