Eldorado Gold is a Canadian low-cost gold producer with over 20 years of experience building and operating gold mines in Europe, Asia and South America. We have seven operating mines and a pipeline of projects in different stages of construction, development, and exploration.

Our Tanjianshan Mine (TJS) is located northwest of Beijing, in Qinghai Province, China.  Current open pit operations will be expanding to include underground mining in the near term.

We are currently seeking an experienced General Foreman, Underground, to join the operations team at our TJS Mine. Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be responsible developing underground mining operations, leading the underground mining teams in the achievement of scheduled mining activities and development works in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in operations aspects of developing a new underground mine;
  • Scheduling, coordinating and supervising the daily activities of the mining teams in the achievement of set targets including production tonnes of ore, budgeted ounces, capital and operational development targets, and backfill targets;
  • Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with applicable procedures and regulations, with an emphasis on safety and environmental compliance;
  • Implementing contractor management strategies to decrease delays and standby;
  • Accurate and timely reporting of monthly production statistics and reports;
  • Effectively communicating with key stakeholders;
  • Reviewing performance data, and developing and implementing changes necessary to enhance safety, improve productivity, and lower production costs; and
  • Training, developing and mentoring members of your team and providing effective feedback on performance and expectations, on a consistent and on-going basis.

Qualifications:

  • A strong background in underground operations with a minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing sound initiatives to increase production in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner;
  • Up to date knowledge of mining technology and heavy production equipment;
  • Proven track record of managing both contractor and owner operated mining teams;
  • Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement culture and a proven track record of actively participating in a CI environment;
  • Proven ability to deliver results;
  • Strong safety and environmental focus;
  • Confident communicator and leader;
  • Effective report writing skills;
  • Previous expatriate experience with demonstrated cultural sensitivity; and
  • Strong computer skills.
