Cornerstone to this strategy is the development of Kitsault. Parallel to this, Alloycorp is seeking to grow through the acquisition of other assets with commodities that supply to the steel alloys industry.
About Avanti Kitsault Mine Ltd.
The Kitsault molybdenum project ("Kitsault" or the "Project") is located in the Nass Valley area, approximately 140 km north of Prince Rupert, in British Columbia, Canada. Alloycorp holds a 100% interest in the Project through its wholly owned subsidiary, Avanti Kitsault. Total investment into the Project will be approximately $1 billion.
Once developed, Kitsault is expected to become one of the largest primary molybdenum producers globally, producing over 11,000 tonnes of molybdenum and 1 million ounces of silver annually, over a 14-year mine life.
Employment Opportunity: General Manager
Avanti Kitsault Mine Ltd. is currently seeking candidates for a General Manager position. This is an exciting role where you will firstly oversee the build-up of the owner’s site operations team during construction and prepare for operational readiness to eventually managing one of the world’s largest molybdenum producing mines.
Reporting to the COO, the primary purpose of the position is to maximize sustainable profit, by providing effective and efficient management of the Avanti Kitsault Mine (AKM). You will lead the management team to establish overall strategy and objectives of the mine during construction and through to operations.
Key Accountabilities and Duties:
- Development and implementation of the company’s internal controls, budgeting, and reporting processes to ensure safe, healthy, environmentally protected, productive and cost effective operation
- Development and implementation of an operational readiness and capability plan that includes building the operations team, establishing processes and systems that deliver excellent results on time and within budget
- Manage the allocation of resources, finances and the administration of AKM’s assets as assigned
- During construction oversee and report on the work scope, progress, budget performance and costs.
- During operation, oversee all mine activities and continue on improving the overall operating strategy of the mine
- Liaise closely with the executives to ensure that the strategic objectives of the company are being implemented effectively on the ground
- Train and develop the Avanti Kitsault Mine team and instill a proactive, zero harm safety culture
- Continue Alloycorp’s commitment of corporate responsibility by fostering strong relationships with the local community and other key stakeholders
Qualifications:
- BSc degree in mining or mineral process engineering
- 20+ years of experience in the mining industry.
- 10+ years of management experience in mining operations, preferrably some experience in greenfield and/or brownfields projects
- Excellent safety record and commitment to promoting a strong safety culture
- Proven expertise and leadership in administrative, technical and financial areas of project/ and operational mangement
- Demonstrated ability to work sucessfully with first nation communities
- Strong leadership skills and communication skills
- Alignment with Alloycorp’s values of intergrity, innovation, accountability, teamwork and safety.
Other Information:
- Position will be based temporarily out of Vancouver project office and will eventually transition to Terrace, BC and the mine site
- Position will be in both the office and field, and travel will be required
- Rotation schedule at site still to be determined – it will be based on the full complement of the operations team.
