Group Operations Manager - Mining and Development (Management & Executives)

About Altura

Altura is a multi-faceted miner with significant coal, iron ore and lithium projects in Indonesia and Australia, a diverse minerals exploration portfolio, and a profitable mining services business that provides drilling, geophysical and project development services.

With experienced leadership and a strong and supportive shareholder base, Altura is focused on a solid suite of projects that includes the operating Delta coal mine in East Kalimantan, and the South Kalimantan based Tabalong Coal Project which is in the final stages of approvals before mining commences.

The role

The role is initially based in Altura’s Jakarta office however will require frequent travel to operations in Kalimantan and Australia. You will report to Altura’s Managing Director who is also based in Jakarta and work closely with Altura’s executive team and business unit managers in Indonesia and Australia.

With a minimum of 10 years of experience, you will play a key role in:

  • Operations management input of Altura’s existing and planned coal operations in Indonesia
  • Evaluation and lead development role of Altura’s development projects globally
  • Identifying and review of potential global mining prospects for the company
  • Providing leadership of Altura’s employees and their professional development in order to satisfy our business requirements
  • Providing direct support to the Managing Director including role coverage as required
  • Corporate communication of Altura’s strategies to shareholders, investors and partners

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or other Engineering discipline and intense mining exposure
  • Sound understanding of mine planning processes and the ability to successfully implement mine plans
  • Excellent contractor management skills with focus on continuous improvement
  • Excellent negotiating skills and experience in joint venture operations
  • Senior level management experience with focus on both upstream and downstream reporting
  • Good financial management and reporting skills including budget preparation and monitoring
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attitude and commitment to train and work with a culturally diverse workforce
  • Excellent strategic planning and resource management skills
  • Strong leadership and motivational ability

Compensation

Remuneration will be based on an expatriate package including salary, housing, schooling, full health and travel with the package to be discussed on an individual basis.
