Health and Safety Consultant (Health, Safety & Training)

The Health and Safety Consultant will be a senior health and safety control individual; a strategic team player working with all member companies. The successful candidate will provide leadership and hands-on support in a wide variety of Health and Safety services and activities, including planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive occupational health and safety program.

Responsibilities

• Developing and supervising the company's loss prevention function at development and exploration sites;
• Providing assistance to all line and staff departments on first aid, safety and security matters;
• Developing and implementing loss control programs;
• Evaluating conditions and determining corrective actions;
• Evaluating loss control practices and indicators;
• Providing advice and consultation to staff;
• Preparing and monitoring department budget; and
• Planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the work of department staff.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in a related field;
• Additional specialized education of up to 2 years;
• Formal professional or technical registration in appropriate area of expertise
• 10 years of related experience in health and safety management
• Previous experience in mining sector would be highly regarded;
• Excellent communication skills (Both written and verbal); and
• Ability to excel in a dynamic, team-oriented and demanding work environment.
•         Experienced health and safety person who has experience with new operations and operations in development/construction
•         Need to audit exiting safety procedures, policies and programs
•         Need to develop new policies and procedures as required
•         This is likely a 2-3 month assignment that could develop into a full time role if it's a fit for both parties
•         Russian language skills would be an asset but not necessary.
