We are looking for Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our Wolverine Mine, near Tumbler Ridge, in North East BC. As part of our continued growth strategy, we will increase production to meet continued demands for our product. Summary:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing mobile mining equipment; such as heavy haul trucks, graders, dozers, drills, excavators, etc., which must be seen in the field rather than the truck shop.  Work assignments can be in the shop or field.   Previous experience including  Hitachi EX 5500, 8000, Cat 789, 793, 385, 992, 924, D10’s, 16’s, Komatsu 1500’s, PC4000 & 3000,  I.R, Terex and AtlasCopco drills would be preferred.

Required:

  • Valid interprovincial trade qualification in Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics preferred (Red Seal Certification)
  • 2+ years related experience of repairs, PM’s etc  of mobile mining equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot common complaints using electrical schematics or hydraulic schematics
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to read and understand original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service manuals and parts manuals
  • Physically fit - Some requirements for this position include: climbing, neck movement (looking behind for clearance), lifting light items, good eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity and working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Identify parts required and communicate clearly to warehouse staff
  • Good interpersonal skills, as well as good written, oral communication skills & an effective team member
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Explorer & knowledge of computer maintenance systems is an asset
  • Good understanding of computerized machinery
