Our business associate, Building Business Bridges (BBB-UK) is seeking experienced Heaving Mining Equipment Fitters for a supply contract to the Kumtor open cast gold mine in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan is generally considered to be stable and safe, and the mine is in a remote area of the country. It is a secular state and does not prohibit the import and consumption of alcohol, however the mine site is dry and alcohol, drugs, and firearms are prohibited.

Two teams of eight fitters (16 in total) are required to carry out component rebuilds to the mines very heavy mining shovel and haul truck fleet. The units in use are CAT 785 and 789 Haul Trucks (150-200 tonne payloads, 249-324 tonne GVW) and Liebherr 9350 and Hitachi 3600-6 Shovels (all 300 tonne plus GVW).

The initial contract is for 12 months, with salary to be agreed. The rotation would be 28 days on site followed by 28 days leave, with on site work weeks being 7 days per week and 12 hours per day. 

Candidates must have completed their apprenticeship for at least 5 years and have relevant experience in the mining industry. They must also be familiar with most, if not all, makes of equipment used at the mine site. The candidate must be at a high level of physical health and fitness, and provide a clear medical authorization to work at a high altitude as the mine is more than 4000 meters above sea level.
