The Red Chris mine is recruiting a Hydrologist / Hydrogeologist to join the Red Chris Team. This position is for work at the remote Red Chris mine located 80km south of Dease Lake, BC in Tahltan traditional territory. The successful applicants will be required to work and stay in camp during their shift rotation. We offer a number of designated flight marshalling points within BC. As a Hydrologist / Hydrogeologist, you will implement the surface and ground water monitoring programs. You will be responsible for data compilation, interpretation and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting water investigations, including watershed and hydrological assessments, water monitoring and watershed modelling, with preferably some experience in the complex physical settings in British Columbia.
  • Solving complex technical problems related to water
  • Field sampling
  • Producing technical reports
  • Interpreting and analyzing maps and data.
  • Working cooperatively with agencies, other levels of government, and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Minimum education: a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography, Biology, Earth Science, Engineering, Forestry, Environmental Science, Resource Management or other related disciplines (recent Graduates will be considered).
  • Special training: specialized training in watershed hydrology, watershed modelling, groundwater modelling, geomorphology, forest hydrology, resource management and planning or equivalent
  • Professional Association: the candidate will need to be registered or become eligible for registration as a professional, with a British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e. Association of BC Forest Professionals, BC Institute of Agrologists, College of Applied Biology, Association of Professional Engineers)
  • Knowledge: sound advanced knowledge of watershed hydrology, fluvial processes and geomorphology, study design principles; an understanding of relevant provincial and federal regulations; understanding of watershed modelling methodology and tools;
  • Familiarity with PC word processing, spreadsheet and graphing packages.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Show strong teamwork abilities.
