Instrumentation & Controls Technician (Maintenance & Trades)

Red Chris Development Company is seeking an experienced individual to be a part of the mine development team for the Red Chris Project in Northwest British Columbia.  The work is at a remote camp and the successful applicants will be required to work and stay in camp on a rotational basis.   

Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, the Instrumentation & Controls Technician will work closely with the vendors and the construction management team during the implementation and commissioning stages of the project, then be integral in transitioning to operations.  

Primary responsibilities for the Instrumentation & Controls Technician are:  

  • Install control and measurement instruments on existing and new plant equipment and processes;
  • Repair and adjust system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts;
  • Inspect and test operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments;
  • Calibrate components and instruments according to manufacturers' specifications;
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete test and maintenance reports;
  • Consult with and advise process operators; and
  • Maintain efficient inter‐departmental communication.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Certified Industrial Instrumentation Mechanic
  • Completion of a two‐year college program in industrial instrumentation technology
  • A minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Experience with Delta V control systems is highly desirable
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Detail and results oriented with the ability to multi task, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
