The Lucky Friday Mine is a deep underground silver, lead, and zinc mine located one mile east of the town of Mullan in the Coeur d’Alene Mining District in northern Idaho. The Lucky Friday has been owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company since 1958. Established in 1891 in one of the world’s most prolific silver-producing districts, northern Idaho’s Silver Valley, Hecla Mining Company’s rich history of mining has distinguished it as a respected precious metals producer. Hecla is the oldest U.S.-based precious metals mining company in North America and the largest producer of silver in the U.S. and is headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with a sister office in Vancouver, B.C.  

SUMMARY 

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for maintenance activities.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for maintenance activities. 

Manage all aspects of the IFS maintenance system. 

Maintain IFS reporting procedures and develop reports as required. 

Maintain equipment registers, equipment service schedules, and equipment availability. 

Maintain work orders and input required for equipment records. 

Work with warehouse personnel on warranty issues, core recovery, and parts ordering. 

Maintain component information on all equipment for warranty tracking. 

Assist in developing a preventive maintenance program for each piece of equipment. 

Assist the Maintenance Foreman with budgeting for the maintenance department. 

Assist the Maintenance Foreman with planning activities including manpower, skills needed, materials, timelines, and reports. 

Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required. 

Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required. 

Follow and understand MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, SOP and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities. 

Perform data input as required. 

Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team. 

Must be willing to comply with all company policies and procedures, especially with regard to Safety, Human Resources, and Environmental. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to general office conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; the employee may be exposed to underground work locations; wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

High School graduate or equivalent. Post-secondary education related to maintenance is preferred. 

Prior experience setting up, using, and maintaining computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) required. 

Prior experience in maintenance planning. 

Must be computer literate and proficient in Excel. 

Good mechanical background and aptitude. Good understanding of all maintenance functions. 

Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with IFS preferred. Prior experience in the mining, lumber, or manufacturing sectors preferred.
