This position includes an industry competitive compensation package and the option of fly-in fly-out rotational scheduling.

Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Mill Superintendent is responsible to oversee the effective milling of ore and direct all mill activities including planning, budgeting, staffing, cost containment, and profitability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To manage the day to day operations of the Mill in a safe manner
  • To analyze milling data and provide direction in the development of mill plans
  • To work with the senior management team in establishing the overall strategy for the mill
  • Investigate options and recommend short and long term projects and approaches to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness of mill operations
  • Ensure all Mill related projects are on time, and on budget
  • Develop and direct the implementation of operational programs, processes and policies to meet organizational governance requirements and standards
  • Provide expert advice throughout the site on mill processes and practices
  • Identify options and implement actions to adopt best practices for mill production
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Mill team as well as grow the Mill Operations Team Leaders and Operators. Inspires excellence in mill circuit control and enhancement through metallurgical performance reviews, training, guidance and mentoring in order to reach their maximum potential

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering, with Professional designation or certification in related area
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in ore processing with experience in supervising / leading teams and people
  • Solid working knowledge of milling methods and procedures
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for mines and milling plants
  • Ability to coach technical professionals in a direction that honors their goals and the mines needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and the ability to work with others in a team environment
