Mill Supervisor (Mine Operations)

Copper Mountain Mine currently has an opening for an experienced Mill Supervisor for our 37,500 TPD Mill. The operation is located 20km from Princeton, BC located in the beautiful Similkameen Valley. Princeton enjoys a perfect location, 3.5 hours east of Vancouver, on the edge of the Okanagan and wine country. This setting is attractive for outdoor enthusiasts, with hiking, boating, skiing and fishing at your doorstep.

This position will provide supervision for the day to day operation of a mill operation including the crushing/grinding/floatation/dewatering and tailings circuits. The candidate is responsible to maintain a safe operation through effective and positive leadership of the workforce, ensuring compliance applicable to all regulatory laws, company policies/procedures while meeting the required production quantities and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Mill Operators and any temporary Mill employees
  • Ensure all direct reports are competent and perform their job functions safety and efficiently
  • Scrutinize daily operating variable to achieve and improve upon production targets.
  • Coordinate plant operation to ensure maintenance requirements are met.
  • Ensure that production issues and opportunities are addressed through regular communication with other stakeholders, such as Mill Operations, Mill Maintenance, Mine Operations and other site departments
  • Develop and support an engaged, motivated and effective operating team through leadership, dialogue and coaching.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practises are adhered to

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a front line supervisor with 10 years in a mill department of a base metal mine, copper preferred.
  • Extensive experience with crushing, SAG Mill/Ball Mill grinding, flotation, concentrate dewatering, control room operations
  • Strong interpersonal communication and supervisory skills with the proven ability to lead the team.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing demands.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to work independently.
  • Ability to be an independent thinker and to use initiative
  • Team player
