MINE ENGINEER

Job Description and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Director, the Corporate Mine Engineer will be responsible for various mine planning, design, and project management activities in support of corporate goals and directives.  The position will include frequent interaction with site management and operations departments, as well as corporate geology, finance, and other departments.

Main Responsibilities
• Long and medium term mine production planning;
• Annual and Life of Mine budgeting and cost modelling;
• Manage and/or perform discrete projects as the need arises;
• Provide professional guidance and advice to B2Gold’s operations and projects;
• Review and report on the status and outlook of mining operations regularly and as needed;
• Ensure that mine designs and plans meet B2Gold and industry standard safety parameters;
• Manage data and information and monitor production performance metrics and indicators;
• Maintain communication with sites in relation to mining activities, including mining production personnel, department managers, and mine managers;
• Travel to current and future operations and projects of B2Gold as required;
• Participate in due diligence and assessment of mine projects related to acquisitions and mergers; and
• Maintain current on industry best practice and international performance standards.

Required Qualifications
• Degree in Mine Engineering or similar relevant field;
• Professional Certification (P. Eng., P.E., or similar);
• 5 to 10 years of relevant mining industry experience, including significant time in site based mine operations;
• Strong history of meeting targets and deadlines;
• Experience working with and/or managing consultants and teams directly and remotely;
• Strong knowledge, expertise, and understanding of mine optimization, design, production planning, and site performance;
• Experience creating and maintaining mine budgets, cost models, and life of mine plans;
• International working experience and ability to work with a variety of cultures and settings;
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with all levels of internal employees and external professionals and stakeholders;
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, manage multitasking and multiple demands;
• Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project) and at least one mine design/planning system (GEMS, MineSite, Datamine, Surpac, Vulcan, etc.); and
• Strong English written, verbal and presentation skills, required.
