North to Alaska! Ready for your next adventure? Our Client, a successful mining company, is looking to fill their Mine Foreman position. Reporting to the Mine Operations Manager, this position will be responsible for the execution of mining operations to meet safety, quality, volume, and cost targets. Ensuring safe, environmentally sound production is key. This person is accountable for coordinating all production and development within the mine and will ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods, procedures & equipment effectively.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to Mine operations & support groups working with Mine Operations Manager and coordinate resources and efforts to compliment other areas in realizing overall mine goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Support Safety and Health Management and regulatory compliance
  • Foster cooperation, collaboration and innovation to ensure that production and development goals are being met and that resource value is being maximized
  • Coach & mentor general foremen and senior production engineer(s) in accordance with the company’s leadership qualities
  • Ensure maximum productivity and production rates by safely optimizing mining methods, procedures & equipment
  • Regular interaction with the workforce, demonstrating high level leadership qualities
  • Work with site senior leadership team in continuing development of a focused, cooperative culture throughout the organization
  • Develop and communicate site goals and initiatives in cooperation with other site managers

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:

  • Degree in Mine Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Minimum ten years in mining operations experience with significant experience in surface mining
  • Previous experience in placer mining is a strong plus
  • Functional knowledge in geotechnical principals
  • Proficiency in technical services, cost management and productivity enhancement
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of mining methods
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership qualities including: character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor others both peers and subordinates
  • Proficiency in the preparation of operating and capital budgets
  • Exceptional job analysis and report writing skills
