Mine General Manager, required for a large mining company with operating mines in the Middle East.  Responsibilities: The Mine General Manager, will initially oversee the complete project execution of the mine and will ensure compliance with all regulatory and procedural issues, until full commissioning of the plant and open-pit areas.

Responsibilities will also include overseeing the running of the metallurgical plant and ensuring optimal equipment utilisation of mining equipment and plant machinery.  The Mine General Manager will assist the departments in the development and implementation of operating systems, tools, metrics, methodologies, planning procedure and processes for planning and tracking the progress of mine and plant production (i.e. KPIs, tonnes mined, labour efficiencies, tonnes produced, monitoring the cost per tonne and cost per ounce produced); Develop and implement a mine plan and budget with clear plan and line functions for operation improvement targets; Direct and manage the activities of the mine operation and plant with overall responsibility and accountability for short term planning, implementation and maintenance of cost controls, communications, productivity and quality.  Provide monthly reports of the operation including environmental, safety, mining production, plant production and cost information; Ensure mine safety and health and environmental compliance.
 
Qualifications required:

Specific knowledge of surface mining business and operational practices as well as underground; able to demonstrate change management skills and abilities; possess knowledge and experience in budgeting, fiscal performance and productivity improvement; will have managed multi project large mines before.  BSc or equivalent in Mining Engineering or related discipline.

This is a single status position, with accommodation provided.  Fly-in, fly-out from point of hire.  25 days holiday per annum, 3 flights to home base per annum.
