Qualifications:

  • College diploma or University degree in Mine Engineering or similar field
  • 5+ years of mine management experience required
  • Strong experience in coordination of projects and services
  • Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented
  • Must be computer literate and comfortable working within a strict reporting structure

Expected Roles and Responsibilities: 

  •          Manage the mine and processing operations to achieve maximum productivity and availability at the lowest cost per ton.
  •          Hire, provide training, growth opportunities, support and guidance to approximately 15-30 employees; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolves problems.
  •          Plan and organize daily activities with the Mine Foremen in order to execute blasting, extraction and hauling plans.
  •          Coordinate mine operations and maintenance departments to ensure that the strategic operational goals for the mine are met.
  •          Participate in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term planning.
  •          Enforce performance targets and measures as well as accurately reporting in the database to assess the performance of the mine and direct reports.
  •          Review progress to ensure achievement of targets, and develop strategies for increasing productivity.
  •          Facilitate performance and compliance audits and ensure adherence to required standards.
  •          Responsible for the proper training and maintenance of the mine and heavy machinery.
  •          Ensure that all safety, health and environmental standards and laws are complied with by emphasizing safety as a top priority.
