Our client, a global mining company, has an exciting opportunity for a Mine Technical Services Manager. The Mine Technical Services Manager will lead the technical group of the underground mine. This role will be accountable for establishing and maintaining all mine engineering, face geology, resource management mine ventilation, and mine planning systems required for use during mine development and operations.
We are seeking candidates with the following skills:
1. Minimum ten years of experience working in the mining industry with a high level of technical and operational management/supervision experience.
2. Minimum of seven years of experience in underground mining including a strong knowledge of underground mining methods particularly long-hole stoping with cemented rockfill. Experience with underground rescue teams is preferred.
3. A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field. An advanced degree would be preferred.
4. Strong technical background in underground safety systems including developing and implementing safe work systems.
5. Extensive experience in mine planning and mine planning systems.
6. Experience in mine communications and mine ventilation is preferred.
7. Understanding of ore body knowledge and experience managing reserves statements is preferred.
8. Ability to provide leadership for the engineering group in the areas of safety, planning, scheduling, manpower requirements, cost control, training, goals and feedback.
9. Experience in LEAN, SIX SIGMA or other business improvement systems with experience managing improvement projects.
10. Capacity to build alliances with the environmental department, underground contracting team and other departments in order to meet the mine plan objectives.
11. Strong analytical abilities and advanced problem solving skills. Highly organized with the ability to work in high stress situations and resolve issues.
12. Familiarity with VULCAN and Mine 24D.
13. Ability to interact with individuals of different backgrounds, cultures, and management levels with a proven track record of establishing positive relationships with line managers, project managers, and operations peers.
14. Must be able to live and work in the United States.
