Mount Polley Mining Corporation is seeking an experienced Mine Technician.
Working schedule will be 7 days -12 hour shifts of work followed by 7 days of rest.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health and safety and consistently works toward a safer operation.
- Import and organize all survey data in Minesite for Pit.
- Ensure surveying standards are applied on the field and in Minesite.
- Export new designs and updates onto controllers
- Archives raw survey data from survey instruments monthly.
- Contribute to the creation of standard operating procedures and apply them on a daily basis.
- Manage Mine Operations database, generates reports.
- Provides support to the field surveyor when required on special projects or in the pit sporadically.
- Creates and keep up to date maps like the monthly traffic plan and mine site infrastructure plan.
- Validates assay database and perform quality control.
- Perform modelling of blasthole data in Minesite.
- Design ore layouts using block model and mining direction to minimize dilution and maximize ore value recovery.
- Perform NAG/PAG waste designations. This includes choosing ABA samples for testing, modeling PAG waste, and ensuring that this material is mined appropriately as PAG waste.
- Maintain the daily ore control spreadsheet with daily grades predictions and past production numbers.
- Send out daily grade prediction email.
- Enter time card information in the database and provide a daily tracking report
- Design drill pattern, provide loading instructions and design blast tie ins
- Work with mine planner to tailor blast designs to reduce dilution, achieve proper fragmentation level on
- a material type base and meet production targets
- Track and maintain drill and blast database and paper work, provide accurate blasting detailed information monthly
- Monitor drill and blast vibration through seismograph operations
- Film blast to help monitor blast performance and troubleshooting when issues arise
Minimum qualifications and preferences:
- Mining Technology program diploma from a recognized school of learning with 3 years of experience preferably in an open pit mining operation.
- Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Physically fit to complete projects that require working outside for extended periods of time in a very wide range of weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license
- Other various duties as assigned
Mount Polley Mine is not a fly-in camp.
Employees are expected to find their own accommodation.
Daily transportation to/from the mine site is available from Williams Lake area.
