Design Group Staffing Montreal is currently hiring for a Mine Utilities Superintendent in Nevada for a client running an open pit operation mining copper and gold.

Accountabilities:

  • Maintain electrical cable systems for electric equipment
  • Maintain wells and fire water pumping systems
  • Maintain all fresh water and mine impacted water lines and infrastructures
  • Maintain all fresh water and mine impacted water pumping systems
  • Promote, and develop as necessary, safe work behaviors, work practices and work environments.  Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Ensure all SOPs and policies are followed
  • Maintain departmental that is within the yearly budget guidelines
  • Develop work planning processes and schedule compliance
  • Provide oversight of safety and training guidelines
  • Ensure departmental costs are in check with monthly reporting of variances
  • Support continuing development of company culture
  • Manage proactive personnel development for success in both current and future job assignments
  • Environmental stewardship and compliance.  Instruct and ensure employees have knowledge of environmental responsibilities
  • Close coordination of activities with other work groups to ensure projects and tasks are completed on time
  • Coordinate short and long-term mine planning with the Technical Services Department
  • Prepare annual and life-of-mine Utility department financial and staffing budget
  • Ensure that departmental priorities are aligned with mine plan objectives
  • Develop and maintain awareness of overall and unit costs versus budgeted/forecasted targets
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of pumping system and related work activities

Requirements:

  • College Degree preferred
  • Ten (10) years of mining experience preferred
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience
  • Mobile equipment experience
  • Pumping system experience
  • Construction experience an asset
  • General building maintenance experience
  • Ability to manage and develop a diverse work force
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Proven supervisory skills in a union-free work environment
  • Working knowledge of mobile equipment including operating and maintaining such equipment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of JDE systems desirable
