Mining Manager (Mine Operations)

Our client is a highly successful and growing international mining company with attractive production and exploration assets. They are now seeking a Mine Manager to play a pivotal role in one of their key producing operations in western New South Wales.

The key elements of success are;
• your ability to foster collaborative and productive relationships among your team of approximately 95 personnel,
• your effectiveness in addressing the technical challenges of safe and efficient production of 500 ktpa from new mining areas as well as some remnant mining, 
• your leadership of the development and implementation of a plan to grow production to approximately 600-650 ktpa over the next two years.

As Mine Manager, you will be accountable for the management of the mining operation and related activities in an owner-operated environment. The primary responsibility will be the leadership role in ensuring the safety, efficiency and quality of the underground mining operations, and providing direction to the mining team and staff. With overall responsibility for managing the day to day operations, you will have accountability for safety, mine geology, planning, scheduling, budgeting and all mine based outcomes as well as maintenance. Key to your success will be the continuous improvement of all aspects of the operation to optimise production and costs.

Tertiary qualified in Mining Engineering or similar, you will have proven hands on experience operating as a Mine Manager/Superintendent/Underground Manager in a hard rock mining environment and hold a Mine Managers’ certificate from a relevant jurisdiction. This includes at least eight plus years’ experience working in underground operations including some level of accountability for safety, production, maintenance, and the related support functions. You will have demonstrable leadership skills in coaching teams to achieve a high performing culture. In addition, you will also be well versed in ensuring compliance with all environmental and statutory requirements.
