An Operations Director is required for a well-established mining company with operating gold and base metal mines in Saudi Arabia. The incumbent is responsible for the profitable, safe and effective operation of all mine sites including all aspects related to mining, milling, maintenance and support activities. The Operations Director sits as an active member of the Affiliate Management Committee and contributes to the strategic development and operational management of the Affiliate.
The Operations Director role will have frequent contacts with the Affiliate President and all Mine Managers; frequent contacts with Finance on operational accounting and budget matters; with the Exploration Team for future mine operations; and with the Project Development Team on mine and project matters to ensure a smooth transition from development to operation. Other regular internal contacts are related to Human Resources, Administration, Catering and Security matters. There will be periodic external contacts with Engineering Consultants to direct/coordinate projects, metallurgical surveys and to review results.
Requirements for the role:
Suitable applicants will have a degree, or equivalent, in Mining Engineering; a minimum of 20 years relevant experience in both underground and open-pit mining; a minimum of seven years having been at senior management level. Experience with both gold and base metal mining is essential, along with knowledge of processing and milling techniques and maintenance. Experience of gold refining and base metal smelting would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have a high command of English, both oral and written and have a broad understanding of financial analysis and techniques.
