Job Title:  President and Chief Executive Officer
    
Primary Purpose:  The President and Chief Executive Officer (the “CEO”) is the senior management officer of Conuma Coal Resources. As such, the CEO is the leader of an effective and cohesive management team for Conuma Coal Resources; sets the tone for Conuma Coal by exemplifying consistent values of high ethical standards, integrity and fairness; leads Conuma Coal in defining its vision; is the main spokesperson for Conuma Coal; and bears the chief responsibility to ensure Conuma Coal meets its short-term operational and long-term strategic goals and objectives.  The CEO works with and is accountable to the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Conuma Coal with due regard to the Board’s requirement to be informed and to be independent.

Accountabilities:
• Act honestly and in good faith in the best interests of Conuma Coal and its shareholders.
• Exercise a high degree of care, diligence and skill that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in comparable circumstances.
• Lead the Executive team in achieving their annual medium and long term objectives and milestones, linked to continued safety, EBITDA and production.

Problem Solving Capability:
• Ensure the development of a strong, professional high performing operating team that regularly demonstrates independent but strategically aligned decision making capability
• Identify, develop and implement value maximizing operating strategies that will have a significant and positive, impact on Conuma Coal’s performance
• Lead in achieving excellence both operationally and in the areas of health, safety and environmental stewardship
• Maximize shareholder value by balancing the needs for cash generation and growth
• Allocate scarce cash resources between projects and operations to maximize value

Education & Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field – engineering, metallurgy or geology / mining.
• An MBA is an asset

Technical Competencies & Skills:
• The work of the President and Chief Executive Officer combines both tactical and strategic analytical capability at the highest level. It requires a broad base of operational and financial experience. The level of analytical capability must be maintained and demonstrated at a very high level.
• Strong operational experience and advanced knowledge of mining industry and global marketing challenges/opportunities in the coal sector
• Strong leadership capability with strong emphasis on mentoring and developing people
• The ability to review progress and prioritize resources to achieve operational success
• Passion and experience in achieving outstanding performance in the areas of health, safety and environmental stewardship
• Comfort and capability in pursuing business focused collaboration
• Strong commercial and value delivered focus
• Strong leadership skills that start with leading self and align with Conuma Coal’s vision and values
• Rigorous, data based approach to decision making
• Excellent oral and written communication skills enabling the writing and presentation of high quality reports and other presentation material
• Ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas in a clear and concise manner in both formal and informal contexts
