Principle Exploration Geologist (Geology & Exploration)

Principle Exploration Geologist - International FIFO.

Reporting to the Project Exploration Geologist; this role is offered on a rotation basis of 5 weeks on site and 2 weeks off site with frequent travel to three different sites as a requirement of the role. 

Responsibilities:

1.     Technical Project Management

  • Manage ongoing exploration
  •  Undertake mineralization assessments to evaluate Gold / Base metals (mainly Titanium, Vanadium, Chromium and Nickel) and REEs (Rare Earth Elements) discovery potential.
  •  Offer guidance and support to Senior Exploration Geologists responsible for daily activities of the program.
  •  Manage longer term aspects of the schedule and make amendment if required
  •  Ensure compliance with QAQC procedures

2.     Administrative Project Management

  •  Deliver effective reporting and communication of all activities whilst maintaining cost-control checks and balances
  • Monitor Costs.

3.     Play the role of Acting Manager in the absence of the Project Geologist or the Exploration Manager

  • Manage Technical and Administrative aspects of the Department
  • Manage ongoing exploration programs, budget, and schedule
  • Provide effective communication to the Higher Management

4.     Exploration Program creation and design (including review)

  • Recommendations for additional and future work - through technical evaluation of current and historical information 
  •  Find, evaluate and recommend exploration prospects in keeping with exploration strategies and budget
  • Write a Technical Report (JORC, 43-101, etc…) 

Key factors:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Exploration Geology
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Gold
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Base-Heavy Metals (Titanium, Vanadium, Chromium and Nickel)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Rare Earth Elements
  • Minimum 3-5 years at a leadership level
  • Competent in targeting mineralization; geochemistry, structural geology, geophysics (magnetics, IP, gravity), and alteration mineralogy
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in all aspects of exploration planning and implementation
  • Competent in GIS and 3-D modelling and Resource-Reserve estimation
  • Excellent communication  and writing skills
  • Professional Geologist Registration would be highly appreciated
