Process Control Engineer (Engineering)

Title: Process Control Engineer 

Location: New Mexico 

Our client is currently seeking a qualified Process Control Engineer to join their team.  This individual will provide technical support to the operations and process engineering departments in terms of strategies and implementation.  They must have excellent technical skills and will be working on various projects at the company’s different mine sites in the region. 

Responsibilities of the Process Control Engineer include:

-  Develop, recommend, and facilitate installation and/or modification of control strategies to improve plant operation and profitability

-  Design and maintain functionality for all software and hardware associated with DCS, PLC, and data acquisition systems

-  Assist operations in identifying root causes, provide suggestions on resolution, and assist with implementation of resolution

-  Lead and coordinate Plant Process Control projects

-  Initiate and lead activities to optimize and improve plant process control systems and procedures

-  Work with operations and process engineering to identify control system failures/opportunities and make necessary adjustments

-  Guide and train Process Control Technicians, troubleshoot problems, develop new control strategies, and provide leadership with respect to how overall control strategy is developed and implemented

-  Provide expert technical support of the process control hardware and software systems (PLC’s, DCS, etc.)

-  Responsible for originating, engineering, specifying, and procuring material for new control equipment installations and existing control system upgrades

-  Provide ongoing training to operations and maintenance staff on how to use tools and applications developed for controlling and maintaining processes

-  Develop detailed design requirements

-  Write clear and concise technical reports on work and projects

-  Serve as functional liaison for control system support and interact with the customer / business partners to respond to, prioritize, and resolve customer requests for all manufacturing process areas

Requirements for the Process Control Engineer position include:

-  Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology

-  A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a similar role

-  Advanced knowledge of PLC and DCS systems a must; Delta V and Allen Bradley systems

-  Advanced knowledge of industrial control systems a must

-  Advanced knowledge of design, implementation and operation of process control systems and applications

-  Experience in managing large control system projects an important asset

-  Previous supervisory experience an important asset

-  Proficient computer skills
