Our client is a copper and other metals based company with operations throughout the world. They are currently seeking a Project Manager to join their diverse and innovative team to develop a new underground mine in Canada. The candidate will be given the opportunity to work with the best in the industry. As a Project Manager you will be responsible for meeting safety, project development, cost, and environmental. Specifically, your duties will include:

The Role:

  • Project development which will include optimization, design and construction of the mine and monitoring the environmental permits;
  • Garnering community acceptance, developing partnerships with the key stakeholders and maintaining a positive relationship with First Nations stakeholders;
  • Monitoring and reporting to the Project Steering Committee on the financial status of the project;
  • Promoting a safe and environmentally compliant workplace;
  • Supervising the daily activities of the Project team and providing guidance and support and working closely with them to ensure the transition to operations is successful;
  • Developing site related capital and operating budgets, approving capital expenditures of the project, and ensuring that staffing requirements are met by timely selection; and
  • Developing effective relationships with government and regulatory agencies and developing corporate culture personally.

The Candidate

Applicants for this role must have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining, Metallurgy, Geological or Civil Engineering;
  • Professional Engineering Degree or an equivalent;
  • Proven working knowledge of leadership, management of projects with a capital cost in the region of $1.0B+, and development and continuous improvement of project controls;
  • Excellent planning and communication skills;
  • Experience in community relations, First Nations, and governmental relations as well as experience establishing a project team and culture;
  • Experience leading a shaft sinking project and able to monitor relevant permits and related activity;
  • Familiar with the Canadians Mines Act will be considered an asset.
