THE COMPANY

EP Minerals (EPM) mines, processes and markets quality diatomite, perlite, and clay products. We are one of the top producers and distributors of diatomaceous earth and Bentonite clay worldwide. Our products are used as filter aids, absorbents, functional additives, and soil amendments. THE POSITION

The Research Process Engineer will be based out of our Reno, NV office and research facility, reporting directly to the VP of Research and Development. This position will be an integral member of the R&D team with a strong focus on the development of processes to produce novel filtration, absorption, adsorption and functional additive products from nonmetallic minerals.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop new processes and technologies for producing advanced functional mineral products.
  • Scale up new products from the research lab to a pilot scale and to full production scale.
  • Produce new product samples on laboratory, pilot and commercial scale.
  • Conduct prior art research and make recommendations concerning novelty of invention concepts;
  • Prepare invention disclosures and assist in the preparation of product and process patents;
  • Transfer process technologies to operations and engineering teams during and following the scale up of new processes.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENT

The ideal candidate for this position will have a solid background in minerals beneficiation, classification and thermal processing. Candidates from the industrial minerals, metals and inorganic materials industries are preferred. Candidates with backgrounds in other similar industries may be considered.

Additional requirements,

  • Advanced Degree (PhD preferred) in minerals process engineering or related field, such as metallurgy, materials engineering or chemical engineering.
  • Previous experience in minerals process engineering in a process research and product development environment preferred.
  • Some prior front-line supervisory experience beneficial, but not required.
  • Project management training and skills beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) with the ability to present detailed and technical data to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and within a team-based environment
  • Proven ability to adapt and manage effectively in a changing environment
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Ability to operate standard laboratory and pilot scale process equipment;

Travel for this position is expected to be low but travel could increase to 20% or more for selected projects.
