Our client, a global mining company, has an opening for a Safety & Health Superintendent. This position will provide leadership, coaching, training and oversight for all Safety and Health activities and programs at the mine site. Specifically, this assignment will be to provide leadership, support, and guidance to the operating divisions especially providing counsel, guidance and communication, and collaboration with all Safety and Health personnel.
We are seeking candidates with the following skills:
1. Prefer a minimum of ten or more years of mining experience with at least five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in mining environments.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field or equivalent demonstrated years of experience in senior roles in the mining field. Professional Safety & Health Certifications (CSMP, CSP, etc) are preferred.
3. Prior knowledge and/or experience in industrial hygiene and MSHA regulations is preferred.
4. Strong analytical abilities and advanced problem solving skills. Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and resolve issues in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
5. Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization. Strong proficiency in verbal and written communication. Ability to speak in front of varied, dynamic groups of people.
6. Excellent computer skills along with extensive knowledge of safety and health systems.
7. Ability to lead through effective mobilization of people and achieve required results through influence.
8. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
