Senior Exploration Geologist (Geology & Exploration)

As a senior level exploration geologist, you will be required to provide technical expertise within a team focused on execution of exploration and development work. You will report to the General Manager of Exploration and Geology.

Travelling is an essential part of the role. You may be asked to change your roster during the drilling campaigns.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting with the prioritisation and design of exploration programs in accordance with Focus' exploration strategy;
• Undertaking exploration activities across Focus' tenements, including:
  1. Preparation of drilling and exploration programs and budgets;
  2. Overseeing field logistical requirements;
  3. Liaison with and supervision of contractors;
  4. Mentoring and leadership of the Exploration Geologists;
  5. Monitoring and assessment of results;
  6. Supervising drilling programs.
• Assist with preparation of JORC compliant announcements of exploration results;
• Mentoring & training geologists and field staff in field exploration techniques and procedures;
• Produce geological and other technical reports as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum 8 years' post-graduate experience;
• Significant experience in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia;
• Sound knowledge of ArcGIS and 3D exploration & modelling software. Surpac and Leapfrog are preferred;
• A working knowledge of WA tenement administration requirements and the WA Mining Act;
• Good navigation skills using maps and GPS;
• Knowledge of geochemical and geophysical exploration techniques;
• Knowledge of the requirements of the JORC Code 2012.

Qualifications

• Current WA C-class driver's licence;
• Member of AusIMM or AIG;
• Current Senior First Aid qualification is preferred.
