An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Geologist to join the Inca Minerals team in Lima, Peru. As the Senior Geologist for Inca Minerales SAC (a subsidiary of Australian based Inca Minerals Limited [ASX: ICG]), the position reports to the Managing Director of Inca Minerals Limited and provides in-country exploration and administration expertise to advance development and expansion of the company’s Peruvian projects.

Working closely with the Managing Director and administration staff, in Peru and Australia, the incumbent will manage all in-country exploration and drilling in line with the regulatory framework in Peru, while ensuring all aspects of exploration (drilling, sampling, mapping and interpretation) meet our high standards. This is a full time position, 50% – 75% field based, and it is essential the incumbent be a resident of, and have the legal capacity to work in Peru. The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

• Manage all exploration activities in Peru, and in particular, advance the Chanape porphyry exploration project
• Direct and coordinate the site-based technical team, contractors and consultants in drilling, surface sampling and mapping activities, ensuring the definition of new drill hole locations meet objectives
• Manage drilling programs to budget and scope; provide clear, concise reports on progress and expenditure
• Ensure delivery of timely updates of all permit applications, exploration work, drill core logging and sampling
• Preparing maps and other spatial and geographical information using a geographic information system (GIS)
• Closely liaise and maintain the positive relationship with relevant Peruvian government agencies and community representatives to ensure transparent compliance reporting for the Chanape project, including facilitating the required permits with broad local support

Requirements:

• Qualified BSc (Hons) / MSc Exploration Geologist with no less than 7 years’ substantive professional experience with porphyry and porphyry related mineralisation and preferably a member of the Colegio de Ingeniero del Peru
• Fully bilingual (Spanish / English) Peruvian resident with ability to discuss and present technical and general information in either language
• Demonstrable and contemporary experience using a geographic information system (ArcGIS 10.1, Target for ArcGIS 4.1) to capture, store, manipulate, analyse and present all types of spatial or geographical data
• Extensive experience in exploration, planning, and reporting in the Peru / South American context, including managing and conducting drilling programmes
• Sound and current knowledge of Peruvian Government permit requirements
• Proven ability to lead and manage teams and coordinate with other teams and third parties, including affected communities and regulatory bodies
• Ability to provide administration expertise to develop budgets, controls and manage other stakeholders
• Highly developed skills in creative problem solving, lateral thinking and problem resolution
