Job Description:

The Senior Mine Engineer will report directly to the Superintendent of Engineering and is responsible to assist in leading the mine engineering department in the design and scheduling of the underground mine development.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:

• Completes the long term mine planning and scheduling.

• Reviews ventilation and ground support, production methods, mine design, materials handling and manpower requirements.

• Assists in reviewing and completing Underground mine design and planning.

• Mine ore reserve estimation.

• Feasibility studies on major capital works.

• Develops mine budget and ensures it is adhered to through cost control.

• Promotes operating and capital cost reductions, reduces waste and operational delays.

• Management of technical personnel.

• Take up Superintendent of Engineering duties when he is offsite.

• Analyzes and makes recommendations on ways to improve mine operating performance.

• Promote health and safety requirements in the engineering department.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

• Mining Engineer Degree.

• 5-8 years of mine planning, engineering & project experience.

• Must be familiar with shrinkage, long hole and cut/fill methods of mining.

• Narrow vein mining experience is preferred.

• Well-developed computer skills, specifically with software such as GEMCOM, AutoCAD / Amine, and MS Office.

• Must be familiar with underground ventilation methods and the use of ventilation software such as VentSim.

• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.

• Must be registered with the Professional Engineers Ontario or be eligible to register for their Professional Engineer of Ontario.
