The Client

Our client is engaged in the exploration, development and production of gold in the United States. The Company’s principal offices are located in Colorado. They are currently mining and ramping up the underground mine at its wholly owned gold property located near Winnemucca in Humboldt County, Nevada. The principal focus is the development of high grade ores from feeder zones and karsts beneath and adjacent to the previously mined open pits. Ore is shipped to third party processing and refining facilities. Production is scheduled to reach approximately 35,000 to 50,000 ounces per year by the end of 2015.

Position Description:

The position will be responsible for the day to day conduct of underground mine ore control activities, geologic interpretation, and the tracking of ore grades, tonnages, and stockpiles, maintaining a production database, as well as delivering production data & reports. Emphasis will be on ore grade control, minimizing dilution, sorting of ore types and tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality. The incumbent will also be responsible for stope definition drilling and be a key contributor to all new resource and geologic modeling, resource and reserve estimates and will provide assistance to the mine planner in short and long term mine planning. The incumbent will work as part of an operating team while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.

Job Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Geology, Geologic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in underground hard rock mining
  • Minimum of 2 years on site experience in narrow vein mining & back filling
  • Experience in underhand cut and fill stoping and long-hole mining methods
  • Experience in surface or underground Carlin-type ore deposits
  • Proficient in grade control, muck and stockpile tracking and reporting
  • Capable of utilizing latest computer & software technologies such as Microsoft office products, CAD software, and 3D mining programs such as Vulcan, Surpac, and/or MineSite. Significant preference will be given to those applicants proficient in Vulcan software
  • Supervisory experience with both technical and non technical personnel

  • Assist in mine planning activities for both short term and long term
  • Responsible for coordinating ore control activities, sorting of ore types and tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality in conjunction with mine operations
  • Responsible for preparation of daily, monthly and yearly production reports
  • Prepare clearly written monthly reports and other documentation on required frequencies.
  • Prepare capital and operating cost estimates for areas of responsibility
  • Develop and manage budgets
  • Maintain constructive and effective working relationships with Pinson employees, contractors and consultants
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize time, work, and resources.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties including ability to demonstrate a clean driving record
