Senior Mining Engineer Supervisor (Engineering)

Our client, a diversified mining and mineral development company with head office in Vancouver BC and mines in Canada, USA and South America, has currently openings for Senior Mining Engineer supervisors for their operations in Southeastern British Columbia. Our client offers an excellent compensation package including bonus, full benefits and relocation assistance.

The ideal candidate will have experience in surface (open pit) environment, experience with nickels, coal, copper, iron ore and/or other base metals is essential 

You will be reporting to the Superintendent, Engineering and be responsible for managing the engineering group and the ancillary resources required to support the production of coal including the evaluation of the growth opportunities, alternate mining methods and continuous improvement of the mine engineering system.


Duties:

  • Oversee mine design, economic evaluation, cost estimating, productivity forecasting, equipment selection and production scheduling on a wide range of studies from pre-scoping to feasibility studies;

  • Incorporate, investigate and develop best practice for Coal in areas of property evaluation, mine engineering design and scheduling, and alternate mining technology;

  • Develop team members through planning, management by objectives, recognition and mentorship;

  • Provide corporate governance for the Life of Mine Plans, reserve and resources and quarterly reconciliations;

  • Participate in the development of the mine plan and budgeting process;

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to the engineering team;

  • Optimize the deployment of the technical workforce as priorities change by managing mine site and corporate requirements;

  • Safety conscious- Lead, adhere and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures;

  • Any other duty as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 8 years of experience, with prior exposure coordinating and supervising an engineering team

  • BSc. Engineering or equivalent with Mining, Civil or Geotechnical specialization

  • P. Eng designation is required

  • Equivalent combination of education and open pit engineering experience may be acceptable

  • Previous work in open pit, truck and shovel operations is advantageous

  • Experience with the budgeting process

  • Proven and exemplary leadership skills

  • Superior interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications

  • Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities
