Overall Job Purpose: Provide surveying support for underground and surface operations at West Elk Mine.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform underground and surface surveying as part of the surveying team
- Underground - Setting sights, painting locations, hanging & measuring longwall advance markers
- Underground – Profiling areas for construction, collecting volumetric calculations data
- Surface – Subsidence monitoring, elevation collection, other special projects
- Prepare and maintain all relevant files, drawings, records, etc., necessary to document all surveying activities
- Assist in the preparation of mine maps and engineering designs relative to survey data
- Interface daily with underground supervisors
- Other duties, as assigned
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in surveying - qualified experience in underground and/or surface surveying may be substituted for degree
- Professional Land Surveyor registration a plus
- Experience with AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Proficient with set-up and operation of total stations, theodolite, leveling equipment, and data collection equipment
- Proficient with setup and operation of Trimble GPS and data collection equipment
- Solid knowledge and experience of surveying fundamentals, calculations, and note-taking techniques
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills required
- Mine Foreman certification a plus
