Eldorado Gold is a Canadian, low-cost gold producer with over 20 years of experience building and operating gold mines in Europe, Asia and South America.  We are dedicated to responsible operations, the highest safety and environmental standards and working with stakeholders to enhance the communities where we operate.  Skouries is a high-grade gold-copper porphyry deposit located in the Chalkidiki Peninsula in northern Greece.  It is currently being re-developed in phases.

We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager to join our team at Skouries. Reporting to the General Manager, Skouries you will be responsible for managing technical services activities at Skouries with respect to mine design and planning, geology, geotechnical, and survey along with support of operational and strategic project development.  The Technical Services Manager will oversee a team of engineers, surveyors, and geologists.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Recognize, promote and implement best practices in geologic interpretation, drill and assay data quality assurance / quality control, and 3D digital modeling.
  • Ensure proper roles and reporting systems set-up and support (mapping, reconciliation, ore control) for precious and base metal deposits using underground mining methods.
  • Manage the mine engineering team to provide short, medium and long term mine plans which include rolling 3-month schedules, budget mine plans, and life-of-mine plans.
  • Ensure survey team provides accurate and timely information and survey controls to the operation.
  • Provide expert staff or personally act a senior technical mentor through peer review.
  • Oversee interactions between mine technical services group and other operations/ support groups.
  • Offer strategic outlooks by providing geologic and mine plan advice for short and long term planning.
  • Organize and ensure timely estimates of the mineral resources and mineral reserves.
  • Assist with relevant resource and reserve reporting requirements
  • Work with the mine and advanced project team to develop scope of work and budgets of third party consultants and help with management of the same.
  • Establish and manage business improvement projects as needed.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mine Engineering.
  • Fifteen years’ experience in mine engineering and planning in both open pit and underground operations would be preferable.
  • Supervisory experience in mine operations would be an asset.
  • Experience with a wide variety of underground mining methods.
  • Member of a NI43-101 recognized Professional Association would be an asset.
  • Able to work with complex digital geologic and assay databases and have knowledge of industry-standard audit procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of commonly used mineral industry geologic and mine planning software.
  • Should be a generalist in all aspects of mine engineering (geology, geo-technical, mine planning, survey, and grade control).
  • Excellent personal skills and the confidence to lead, direct, mentor and motivate the technical staff.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.

This is a residential position based in Halkidiki, Greece.  Preference will be given to Greek Citizens.  An EU work authorization is required.
