3x Underground Geo Technicians

Silverlake is looking for 3 x Underground Geo Technicians to join our Mount Monger Geology team 60 kilometres SE of Kalgoorlie.  This is a great entry level position. The purpose of the role of UG Geo Technician is to contribute to the operation of the ore control function to maximise the profitable extraction of resources for Silver Lake Resources (SLR) through effective mapping and sampling of ore headings and communication of observations.

Key Responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Mapping and sampling of UG development as required over all underground mines
  • Liaise daily with mining team and geologist regarding direction for ongoing development
  • Assist with daily updates of master level plans and geological maps
  • Routine and daily data entry associated with collection and reporting of mapping and sampling data
  • Assist daily dispatch of UG samples
  • Ensure effective communication/handovers regarding status of UG development to incoming shift
  • Update shiftboard for end of shift status of each development heading as required
  • Effectively communicate observations regarding position of ore and structures as compared to existing geological models
  • Daily / routine stockpile checks underground and Mine Ore Pads
  • Regular Departmental stock inventory
  • Identify geo-technical hazards requiring assessment through observation and analysis to maintain safe operation.
  • Communicate relevant geological information to operational personnel to enhance understanding of geology practices.
  • Update and review current procedures relating to role of face mapping and sampling.
  • Complete any other task as lawfully requested by your supervisor.
  • Abide by and proactively comply with Company policies, procedures, guidelines and systems, as well as all relevant legislation
  • Ensuring all geological tasks is completed safely and in accordance with company procedure
  • Comply with company policies, standards and procedures.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Qualifications in Geology are not essential however potential candidates with geological qualifications are encouraged to apply.
  • Mature outlook to work ethic.
  • Familiarity with computing software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Manual 'C' class driver's license.
  • Exposure to underground mine production and environment preferred but not essential.
  • Must be willing to work in an underground environment.
  • Be able to self-manage workloads with excellent time management and coordination with underground mine operators.
  • Strong commitment to safety and company policies.
